ABOUT BUTTERCRAFT

Our story is one of history and passion. As a longtime maker of handcrafted objects and lover of sustainable artisan foods, I decided it was time to let these marry into something more in order to honor my passions, but also my family's history.

BUTTERCRAFT is more than handcrafted artisan butters. It's a nod to my namesake, which translated, means "butter maker".

My great grandmother, Rose, was a stowaway on a ship coming to America from Sicily at the age of 14. She had no idea what lay ahead of her, but she was determined, passionate, and resilient and I like to think that I too share those qualities.

There is a rich history of beer makers, wine growers, gardeners, and culinary enthusiasts in my family. BUTTERCRAFT is about honoring that heritage and tradition while building upon that foundation through my own experience as an anthropologist, sommelier, and former owner of an artisan bacon company.

Through years of trial and error (often times more error!) the process has provided me insight as well as joy in seeing how food and cooking together brings about human connection. Eating is an essential component of our lives and a meal is a communal thing to be shared. Relationships are formed over food, plans solidified, and life experienced. It’s an integral part of being human.

To honor our family of makers, I'd like to add butter makers to the list.

At BUTTERCRAFT, we can help in your quest for making culinary memories with your friends and families. You butter believe it!
